About Mt Kailash
Mount Kailash is a 22,000 foot peak belonging to the Transhimalaya in Tibet.
It lies near the source of Asia’s longest rivers; the Indus; the Brahmaputra and the Karnali (a tributary of the Ganges).
It is considered a sacred place in four religions: Bonpo; Buddhism; Hinduism and Jainism: the throne of the Gods where the divine takes earthly form.
In Hinduism it is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva and a place of eternal bliss.
‘A place where snow leopards dance’.
For Buddhists it is the navel of the Universe and is called ‘precious snow mountain’.
It is a popular belief that the stairways on Mount Kailash lead to Heaven.
It seems appropriate that the act and art of film-making bears such an auspicious name and inspiration.
